Troubleshoot External Awnings

Installing Ziptrak® Awnings has more steps and can be more complicated than installing internal blinds. Fortunately, there is plenty of support available to help you with the installation process. If you're a Betta Blinds customer you can access our online Ziptrak® installation training videos. If you currently sell Ziptrak® (or meet some of their criteria) you can sign up to the Ziptrak® trade hub which has even more resources. 

Fabric for external blinds can be replaced if the old fabric is worn or damaged. Ensure that the outdoor blind is performing and correctly working before replacing the fabric. Betta Blinds customers can access our skin-only product which has a selection of popular fabrics.

You can replace the fabric on a Zipscreen™ with a selection of different fabric options.

Unlike Zipscreen™up-to-date, Ziptrak® does not provide a tensioning chart (at this stage) for you to follow but after installing a few different-sized Ziptrak® Blinds you will have a good idea of how many turns to apply. To apply tension to a Ziptrak® Blind simply hold the roll in one hand and turn the spring. When you have applied the appropriate amount of tension then lock the spring in place before installing.

Because PVC is such a stiff material it prevents the bottom rail from being able to pull the PVC skin down. This can cause the Outdoor Blind to get stuck and can damage the motors. Therefore, do not supply PVC Outdoor Blinds with motors.

To operate a spring Ziptrak® or Zipscreen™ it is important to lift from the middle of the bottom rail. This ensures that it retracts evenly and that the fabric recoils at the same rate. If you operate your Outdoor Awning from the side you will find that the fabric will wind up unevenly or might get stuck in the Side Channels.

Yes Side Channel Awnings can be used in locations that are out of square depending on the extent of the variation from square. Small variations can be accommodated for by using the side adjustment feature that is present on both Ziptrak® and Zipscreen™. It is important that the side channels run perfectly straight to ensure that the Awnings operate correctly.
